One of my favorite traditional foods is biryani, a rich and flavorful rice dish layered with marinated meat, fragrant spices, and herbs. It’s both hearty and festive.
In my country, biryani is especially popular during Eid celebrations. It's almost a tradition to prepare it at home when friends and relatives come over after the Eid prayers.
Biryani is made by marinating meat (usually chicken or mutton) in yogurt and a blend of spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala. Separately, basmati rice is partially cooked. Then, the meat and rice are layered in a pot, sometimes with fried onions, mint, and saffron-infused milk. It’s sealed and slow-cooked (a method called "dum") for rich flavor infusion.
I love biryani because it brings back fond memories of family gatherings and festive joy. The aroma is incredibly inviting, and every bite bursts with a perfect mix of spices and textures. Plus, it's a dish that symbolizes celebration and togetherness in my culture.
