Describe a time when you answered a phone call from someone you didn’t know in a public place IELTS Cue Card

When and where it happened:

This happened around six months ago, while I was waiting at a busy train station in the heart of the city. It was late afternoon, and I had just finished a job interview. I was sitting on a bench near the platform, scrolling through my phone, when it suddenly rang.

Who called you:

The call was from an unknown number, which I normally wouldn't answer, but something told me to pick it up. It turned out to be someone from a courier company.

What he/she said:

The caller introduced himself politely and explained that he was trying to deliver a parcel to my address, but no one was home. He wanted to confirm whether he should leave the package with a neighbor or try again the next day.

How you corresponded:

I thanked him for the call and asked him to wait a moment while I checked with my roommate via text. After confirming that my roommate could collect it, I told the courier to go ahead and deliver it. I also gave him my roommate's name for reference. The whole call lasted about three minutes.

And explain how you felt about the experience:

Honestly, I felt a bit awkward at first because I was in a public place, and I noticed a few people glancing at me while I was on the call. However, I was also relieved and impressed by the courier’s professionalism. It felt nice to resolve the issue promptly and ensure the delivery wasn't missed.
