You should say:
It was our refrigerator, an essential appliance in our kitchen that we use every day to store vegetables, fruits, dairy products, and other perishable items.
One morning, we noticed that the fridge had completely stopped cooling. All the food inside started to spoil. Later, we found out that the compressor had stopped working due to a power surge during a thunderstorm the previous night.
We called a local appliance technician who was experienced in repairing refrigerators. He replaced the damaged compressor with a new one and also fixed some wiring. The repair took about 3 hours, and thankfully, the fridge started working properly again.
I felt relieved and happy because buying a new refrigerator would have been quite expensive. Getting it repaired not only saved us money but also taught me the importance of maintaining appliances and using voltage stabilizers to prevent future damage.
