You should say:
I once lost my wallet, which contained some cash, my ID card, and a few important cards like my bank ATM card and a bus pass. It was a small black leather wallet that I had been using for years.
I lost it about six months ago while traveling on a crowded city bus. It was during rush hour, and I believe it slipped out of my pocket when I was trying to adjust my backpack or grab onto the handrail.
As soon as I realized it was missing, I got off the bus at the next stop and immediately retraced my steps. I asked the bus driver if anyone had found a wallet, but unfortunately, no one had turned it in. Later, I contacted the bus company and even filed a report. I also blocked my ATM card to prevent misuse.
At first, I felt really panicked and frustrated. Losing something in public is stressful, especially when it involves personal identification and bank cards. I also felt disappointed in myself for not being more careful. However, I also felt grateful that I took quick action to block my cards and avoid further trouble.
