Although I stay connected with friends and keep up with current events, most of the content is repetitive or irrelevant. At the end of it, I rarely gain anything useful or meaningful.
One major reason I find this activity a waste of time is the addictive design of social media. These platforms are built to grab attention and keep users engaged, making it difficult to stop once you've started. Sometimes, I convince myself that I’m being productive or staying informed, but in reality, I’m just scrolling through trivial posts. It also affects my mood and focus, especially when I start comparing my life to what others post online.
Although social media has its advantages, I’ve come to realise that excessive use is unproductive and time-consuming. To manage this, I’ve started setting app usage limits and replacing screen time with more rewarding activities like reading, exercising, or taking short walks. In summary, scrolling through social media is something I’m working to control better because it often leads to wasted time without any real benefit.
An activity that tends to waste my time is watching television without any clear purpose. Often, I switch on the TV just to relax, but end up spending hours flipping through channels or watching shows I’m not even interested in. This usually happens on weekends or after a tiring day when I just want to unwind without putting in much effort. While TV can be entertaining, doing it mindlessly often results in time wasted that could’ve been used more productively.

There’s always something to watch, whether it’s worth the time or not. Also, watching TV is such a passive activity—it requires little to no mental engagement, so it often feels like I’m just letting time pass by rather than enjoying it meaningfully.
While television can be a good source of entertainment and relaxation, watching it aimlessly turns it into a time-waster. To tackle this, I’ve started planning what I want to watch and setting time limits so I don't fall into the trap of endless viewing. Being intentional helps me enjoy TV without letting it interfere with the rest of my day.
