We've all heard from our elders that waking up early has many benefits. While most people of my generation, including myself, tend to stay up late till 2 or 3 AM, there was one particular time when I had to wake up much earlier than usual—and it turned out to be a memorable experience.
This happened a few years ago when I was in college. I had booked a flight to return home for my summer vacation. The flight was scheduled for 7:30 AM. I initially wanted to travel in the afternoon, but those flights were too expensive, so I opted for the early morning one.
I had to get up early to catch that morning flight. Normally, I avoid early flights because I’m not a morning person. However, this time, cost and availability left me with no choice.
I woke up at 4:00 AM, brewed myself a cup of coffee, and sat on the balcony enjoying the peaceful morning. With some extra time on my hands, I decided to finish a few household chores. I cleaned my apartment, did the dishes, and even managed to pack a few last-minute items.
Surprisingly, I felt amazing. The early morning silence, combined with the satisfaction of getting so much done before even leaving for the airport, was refreshing. I was a bit tired later in the day, but it made me realize how productive mornings can be.
Waking up early is truly underrated. That experience changed my perspective, and I started making an effort to wake up earlier more often. It helped me feel more organized and energized throughout the day.
Waking up early is often linked to a healthier and more productive lifestyle. I want to share a personal experience when I chose to wake up early for an important reason that eventually brought a big change in my life.
This incident took place last year when I was in high school. During the summer holidays, I gained a bit of weight. When I returned to school, some classmates made comments about my appearance, which deeply affected me.
I shared my feelings with my mother, and she encouraged me to wake up early and start a fitness routine. She suggested I begin my day with warm water followed by a morning run.
The next morning, I woke up earlier than ever before. Although it was difficult, I was determined. I freshened up, drank warm water, and changed into the clothes I had prepared the night before. Then I stepped outside for a run.
As I walked out, I was amazed by the peaceful atmosphere—the streets were quiet, birds were chirping, and the sunrise painted the sky with hues of orange and red. It felt calming and refreshing. Seeing others jogging and walking in the early hours gave me motivation.
Since that day, I’ve maintained the habit of waking up early and exercising. I achieved my fitness goals and became more confident. Waking up early added more meaningful hours to my day, and I believe everyone should try it—it truly makes a difference.
