Describe a time when you saw something in the sky - IELTS Cue Card

You should say:

  • What you saw
  • Where/when you saw it/them
  • How long you saw it/them
  • And explain how you felt about the experience

What you saw

I saw hundreds of colorful kites flying in the sky during the festival of Makar Sankranti. They were of different shapes, sizes, and bright colors, which made the whole sky look very lively.

Where/when you saw it/them

I saw them from the terrace of my house in Kota last year. The festival is celebrated every January, and people from the neighborhood were all flying kites together.

How long you saw it/them

I watched the kites for almost the whole day, from morning until evening. Even though I wasn’t flying one myself, I enjoyed watching others compete and celebrated the atmosphere.

And explain how you felt about the experience

I felt extremely happy and nostalgic because it reminded me of my childhood when I used to fly kites with friends. The evening view was especially beautiful, with the sunset and colorful kites together in the sky. It was truly a memorable experience.

People enjoy stargazing because it’s peaceful, relaxing, and makes them feel connected to nature. Some also find it inspiring or romantic, while others are curious about astronomy.
