You should say:

What language have you learned?

What did you do?

How it helped you learn the language

And how you felt about it

What language have you learned?

I decided to learn Spanish a couple of years ago. I’ve always been fascinated by the culture of Spanish-speaking countries, and I felt that learning the language would open up travel, career, and communication opportunities for me.

What did you do?

To learn Spanish, I joined an online language exchange program where I was paired with a native Spanish speaker who wanted to learn English. We would have video calls twice a week, spending half the time speaking in English and the other half in Spanish. I also used mobile apps like Duolingo and watched Spanish movies with subtitles to improve my vocabulary and pronunciation.

How it helped you learn the language

This immersive approach helped me tremendously. Speaking regularly with a native speaker boosted my confidence and allowed me to learn conversational Spanish naturally, not just textbook grammar. Watching Spanish films helped me pick up cultural expressions and understand the rhythm of the language. Over time, I started thinking in Spanish, which was a major milestone in my learning journey.

And how you felt about it

I felt incredibly proud and motivated by the progress I made. There were times when I got stuck or made mistakes, but overall, I enjoyed the process. It felt like unlocking a new way to connect with people and cultures. Every time I was able to hold a full conversation in Spanish, it gave me a real sense of achievement.
