Where it is

A place I would really like to visit in my free time is Italy. It is a beautiful country located in the southern part of Europe, and it is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. Italy is famous all over the world for its rich history, ancient architecture, beautiful coastal towns, art, fashion, and delicious food.

I first became interested in Italy when I did a school project about this country in high school. During that project, I learned about its culture, monuments, cities, and lifestyle. Since then, I have always wanted to visit Italy at least once in my life. I have also watched many travel videos and seen countless pictures of Italy online, and all of them made me even more curious and excited to explore this country.

What you will do there

There are many things I would love to do in Italy. First of all, I would like to visit Cinque Terre, which is one of the most beautiful coastal areas in Italy. It is made up of five colourful towns located near the sea. I would love to walk around these towns, enjoy the colourful houses, take photographs, and experience the peaceful coastal atmosphere. I have heard that people can even hike from one town to another, and the views are absolutely stunning.

I would also like to visit Rome, the capital city of Italy. In Rome, I would love to see the famous Colosseum, which is one of the most iconic historical monuments in the world. It is an ancient amphitheatre where gladiators used to fight during Roman times. I find Roman history very interesting, so seeing the Colosseum in real life would be a memorable experience for me.

Apart from this, I would like to visit Naples, which is known as the birthplace of pizza. Since I love food, especially pizza and pasta, I would definitely try authentic Italian food there. Near Naples, I would also like to visit Mount Vesuvius and the ancient city of Pompeii. Pompeii was buried under volcanic ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius many centuries ago, and because of that, many parts of the city are still preserved.

Finally, I would love to visit the Amalfi Coast because of its breathtaking scenery, blue water, and beautiful coastal views. I think it would be the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature.

How long you will stay there

I think I would need at least two weeks to explore Italy properly. Italy has so many beautiful places that it would not be possible to enjoy everything in just a few days. I would like to spend a few days in Rome, some time in Cinque Terre, a couple of days in Naples and Pompeii, and a few relaxing days on the Amalfi Coast.

I would prefer to visit Italy when I have enough free time and can take a long break from work or studies. I do not want to rush from one place to another. Instead, I would like to enjoy the journey slowly, explore the local culture, try different foods, and make beautiful memories.

And explain why you would like to visit it

I would like to visit Italy because it offers a perfect combination of history, natural beauty, culture, and food. It is a country where every city has something special to offer. Rome has ancient history, Cinque Terre has colourful coastal beauty, Naples has authentic pizza, Pompeii has historical importance, and the Amalfi Coast has some of the most beautiful sea views in the world.

Another reason is that Italy feels very different from my daily routine. In my free time, I would like to go somewhere peaceful, beautiful, and culturally rich, and Italy seems like the perfect destination for that. I believe visiting Italy would not only help me relax but also give me a chance to learn about a different culture and lifestyle.

Overall, Italy is my dream travel destination, and I hope I get a chance to visit it soon.

1. Why do you think some people choose not to travel abroad?

Some people choose not to travel abroad for several reasons. The first and most common reason is cost. International travel can be very expensive because people have to spend money on flights, hotels, food, local transport, travel insurance, and sightseeing. For many people, especially middle-class families, this can become a big financial burden.

Another reason is comfort. Some people feel more comfortable travelling within their own country because they already know the language, culture, food habits, and environment. When people go abroad, they may face language barriers, different weather conditions, unfamiliar food, and cultural differences, so not everyone feels confident about travelling internationally.

Time is also a major factor. Many people are busy with work, studies, business, or family responsibilities, so they cannot take a long break for international travel. In some cases, visa rules and documentation also discourage people from travelling abroad because the process can be stressful and time-consuming.

So, although many people dream of travelling abroad, practical reasons like money, time, comfort, and visa issues may stop them from doing so.

2. Do you think a gap period in life is important?

Yes, I believe a gap period can be important if it is used properly. A gap period gives people time to relax, think about their future, and understand their interests more clearly. Many students feel confused after school or graduation, so taking a short break can help them make better decisions about their education or career.

During a gap period, people can travel, volunteer, learn new skills, prepare for exams, do internships, or gain work experience. These activities can make them more mature, independent, and confident. For example, if a student takes a gap year and uses that time to improve communication skills, learn a foreign language, or gain practical experience, it can be very useful for their future.

However, I also think a gap period should be planned carefully. If someone wastes the entire time without learning anything or doing something meaningful, then it may not be helpful. So, in my opinion, a gap period is important only when a person uses it productively.
