When you took it

I took this photo in November last year, during a short vacation I took with my family. It was right around Diwali, so we had a few extra days off, and we decided to take a trip to a nearby hill station. I remember the weather was perfect — cool, breezy, and not too foggy, which made it ideal for photography.

Where you took it

I captured the photo at a place called Nandi Hills, which is located just outside Bangalore, India. It’s a popular sunrise spot, and I had woken up at 4 a.m. to reach the top of the hill before the sun came up. I set up my phone on a small tripod I had carried and waited patiently for the right moment.

What is in this photo

The photo shows a stunning view of the sunrise over the hills. You can see multiple layers of rolling hills covered in mist, with the rising sun casting golden rays across the sky. There are also a few people standing at the edge of a viewpoint, silhouetted against the glowing background, which adds a dramatic human element to the natural beauty. The entire scene looks almost magical.

And explain why you are proud of it

I’m proud of this photo for several reasons. First, it took effort — waking up super early, hiking in the dark, and patiently waiting in the cold just to get the right shot. Second, the composition and lighting turned out better than I expected, even though I’m not a professional photographer. When I shared the photo on social media, it got a lot of positive feedback and even a few people asked me if it was edited or taken from a stock website — which made me feel really proud. It’s one of those rare moments where preparation met opportunity, and I’m glad I captured it.
