Describe a New Law You Would Like to Introduce in Your Country

You should say:

  • What law it is
  • What changes this law brings
  • Whether this new law will be popular
  • How you came up with the new law
  • And explain how you feel about this new law

Introduction

Laws play a very important role in maintaining discipline, safety, and balance in society. Although there are already many laws in every country, some new laws are also needed from time to time because society keeps changing. One such law that I would like to introduce in my country is related to restricting social media use among children and controlling their screen time.

What law it is

The law I would like to introduce is a strict social media restriction law for children below a certain age. Under this law, children would not be allowed to create social media accounts freely. Their screen time would also be limited, especially for entertainment-based platforms like short video apps and social networking sites.

In my opinion, children should use digital devices mainly for education, learning, and communication, not for endless scrolling or watching random videos for hours.

What changes this law brings

This law would bring many positive changes in society. First of all, it would reduce the amount of time children spend on mobile phones. Nowadays, many children spend hours watching reels, short videos, and online content, which affects their studies, concentration, sleep, and physical health.

If this law is introduced, children may spend more time on reading, outdoor games, hobbies, and real-life communication. It may also improve their attention span and mental well-being. Parents would also become more serious about monitoring their children’s online activities.

Whether this new law will be popular

I believe this law would be quite popular among parents, teachers, and health experts because they already understand the harmful effects of excessive screen time. Many parents are worried because their children are becoming addicted to mobile phones at a very young age.

However, I also think some teenagers may not support this law in the beginning because social media has become a major part of their daily routine. They may feel that their freedom is being restricted. But in the long run, I believe most people would understand the importance of this law.

How you came up with the new law

I got this idea during a family discussion when my cousin from the United Kingdom visited us last month. He told me that many countries are now discussing stricter rules for children’s use of social media because excessive screen time is affecting young people’s concentration and mental health.

After listening to him, I started observing children around me. I noticed that many of them were spending more time on mobile phones than on studies, sports, or family conversations. That is when I realized that this problem is serious and needs legal control.

How you feel about this new law

Personally, I feel very positive about this law. I strongly believe that technology should help people, not control their lives. Social media is useful when it is used wisely, but it can become harmful when children use it for long hours without any limit.

This law would protect children from digital addiction and help them develop a healthier lifestyle. So, if I ever got a chance, I would definitely like to introduce this law in my country.

Follow-up Questions and Answers

1. What rules should students follow at school?

Students should follow basic rules such as respecting teachers, coming to school on time, wearing a proper uniform, completing homework, and not disturbing others in class. In my opinion, school rules are important because they help maintain discipline and create a healthy learning environment. These rules also prepare students for professional life in the future.

2. Do people in your country usually obey the law?

Well, some people in my country obey the law sincerely, but many people break small rules quite casually, especially traffic rules. For example, it is common to see people jumping red lights, not wearing helmets, or parking vehicles in the wrong place. However, things are improving slowly because of stricter fines, CCTV cameras, and better awareness.

3. What kinds of behavior are considered good behavior?

In my opinion, respectful, honest, and responsible behavior is considered good behavior in most societies. People who speak politely, help others, follow rules, and respect public property are usually appreciated. Even small habits like saying thank you, listening patiently, and standing in a queue show good manners.

4. Do you think children can learn about the law outside of school?

Yes, definitely. Children can learn about laws not only in school but also outside school through parents, television, social media, newspapers, and real-life situations. For example, if parents follow traffic rules, pay bills on time, and respect public property, children naturally learn the importance of laws by observing them.

5. What are the benefits for people to obey rules?

There are many benefits of obeying rules. Rules help maintain safety, discipline, and peace in society. When people follow rules, there is less confusion, fewer accidents, and better cooperation among citizens. For example, traffic rules reduce road accidents, while school rules help students study in a peaceful environment.

6. How can parents teach children to obey rules?

Parents can teach children to obey rules by setting a good example themselves. Children usually copy what they see at home, so parents should behave responsibly and follow rules in daily life. They should also explain the reason behind rules calmly instead of just scolding children. Appreciation and small rewards can also motivate children to follow rules.
