You should say:
When it was
Why you didn’t like it
Why you decided to watch it
And explain why you felt disappointed about it
Movies are a popular source of entertainment, and people often watch them with high expectations based on trailers, reviews, or famous actors. However, not every movie lives up to the hype. In this cue card, I will describe a movie I watched recently that left me feeling disappointed.
Recently, I watched the movie Wonder Woman 1984, about a month ago during a weekend at home. I had high expectations because I enjoyed the first Wonder Woman movie and I am generally a fan of superhero films.
I decided to watch it mainly because of the strong trailer, impressive visuals, and the presence of a famous lead actress. Many of my friends also recommended it, which further increased my curiosity.
However, I didn’t like the movie as much as I expected. The storyline felt slow and confusing, and some scenes seemed unnecessarily long. The emotional depth was missing, and the plot lacked consistency, which made it hard to stay engaged.
I felt disappointed because the movie had great potential but failed to deliver a strong narrative. Despite excellent visuals and action scenes, the weak script and predictable moments reduced its overall impact. As a result, the movie did not leave a lasting impression on me.
Yes, I do believe movie reviews to some extent. They help me understand the general opinion about a film, but I prefer watching a movie myself before forming a final judgment.
In my country, India, there are various types of films such as action, romance, comedy, drama, thriller, biographical, and social issue–based movies. Regional cinema is also very popular.
Yes, historical films are quite popular because they showcase rich culture, traditions, and important historical events. People enjoy learning history in an entertaining way.
Yes, films with famous actors often attract more viewers initially. However, long-term success depends on the story, direction, and overall execution rather than star power alone.
Japanese animated films are popular because of their unique storytelling, emotional depth, and high-quality animation. Studios like Studio Ghibli create films that appeal to both children and adults worldwide.
Disappointed – feeling unhappy because expectations were not met
Overhyped – promoted too much compared to actual quality
Predictable – easy to guess what will happen next
Engaging – interesting and enjoyable
Lack consistency – not logically connected
While answering movie-related cue cards, focus on opinions, reasons, and emotions rather than just the story. This helps improve your fluency and lexical score.
