You should say:
I had a disagreement with one of my close friends from university named Rahul. We’ve always had a good relationship, so it was quite unexpected when we didn’t see eye to eye on something important.
The disagreement was about a group project we were working on. We had to create a marketing presentation for one of our classes. I believed we should take a more creative, out-of-the-box approach to impress the professor, while Rahul insisted on sticking to a very traditional format. He thought playing it safe would guarantee a good grade, whereas I felt that being innovative would help us stand out.
Initially, we both tried to convince each other, but the discussion turned a bit heated. We ended up splitting the work and combining both ideas. We presented the first half in a traditional style and the second half with the creative elements I had suggested. Surprisingly, the professor appreciated both aspects and gave us a great grade. After the presentation, we laughed about how serious the argument had gotten and realized it was all just a matter of perspective.
At first, I felt a bit frustrated because I believed Rahul wasn’t open to new ideas. But later, I realized that he just had a different way of thinking and wanted what he thought was best for the team. Looking back, I feel that the disagreement actually helped us grow — not just in how we handled the project, but also in understanding and respecting each other’s viewpoints. It turned out to be a valuable learning experience.
