Any new development in a country will be beneficial for its citizens. Recently, in Mumbai, a new express highway was constructed and it was so beneficial to me. Here I will discuss the same.
Expressways are the highest class of roads in India. These are controlled access highways where entrance and exit are controlled by the use of cloverleaf or trumpet or grade separated interchanges that are incorporated into the design of the expressway and designed for maximum speed of 120km/hr. Nearly 11 expressways have been designated- 4 are operational, 7 are under construction.
I heard in the news that Union minister Nitin Gadkari, in a meeting, announced that the government is constructing many greenfield expressway projects of 10,000 Km across the country at a whopping amount of rs 4.5 lakh crore.
The expressway starts at Kalamboli in Navi mumbai and ends at Kiwale in pune. It cleaves through the scenic Sahyadri mountain ranges through passes and tunnels. As I am in Mumbai and travel often to Pune for work, this expressway was a boon to me. It drastically reduced my travel time to 2 hrs and It is an awesome route to travel.
This new development in the city was a boon not only for me, but for many people as well. This was a testament of India’s infrastructural development. Government should promote many such development plans for the benefit of their people.
Infrastructure is the most visible development in any country. It is essential to develop infrastructure for a nation to progress. Here I am going to share about the development in my country.
The Chenab Bridge’s arch is the greatest rail infrastructure project in India. It is a steel concrete arch bridge connecting Bakkal and Kauri in the Resai district of Jammu. It is the world’s highest rail bridge and arch bridge located above 359m of Chenab river.
I came to know about this new development in my country, India through news channels. Chenab Bridge in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, is set to be fully functional and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2024. Many news channels covered the same and that's how I came to know about it.
I am very thrilled to travel in this train and view the scenery around it. The construction of the bridge posed several engineering challenges due to harsh terrain and the weather condition of the region. At present the construction is over and the Indian railways are making test runs before opening to the public. Hence I am thrilled to travel and experience it.
Development in a country can encompass various forms, including advancements in technology, infrastructure, and sustainable solutions. These improvements should ultimately benefit the citizens and contribute to the nation’s overall growth.
