Introduction

Any new development in a country will be beneficial for its citizens. Recently, in Mumbai, a new express highway was constructed and it was so beneficial to me. Here I will discuss the same.

What is the development?

Expressways are the highest class of roads in India. These are controlled access highways where entrance and exit are controlled by the use of cloverleaf or trumpet or grade separated interchanges that are incorporated into the design of the expressway and designed for maximum speed of 120km/hr. Nearly 11 expressways have been designated- 4 are operational, 7 are under construction.

When did you hear about it?

I heard in the news that Union minister Nitin Gadkari, in a meeting, announced that the government is constructing many greenfield expressway projects of 10,000 Km across the country at a whopping amount of rs 4.5 lakh crore.

How did it influence you?

The expressway starts at Kalamboli in Navi mumbai and ends at Kiwale in pune. It cleaves through the scenic Sahyadri mountain ranges through passes and tunnels. As I am in Mumbai and travel often to Pune for work, this expressway was a boon to me. It drastically reduced my travel time to 2 hrs and It is an awesome route to travel.

Conclusion

This new development in the city was a boon not only for me, but for many people as well. This was a testament of India’s infrastructural development. Government should promote many such development plans for the benefit of their people.

I came to know about this new development in my country, India through news channels. Many news channels covered the same and that's how I came to know about it.

I am very thrilled to travel in this train and view the scenery around it. The construction of the bridge posed several engineering challenges due to harsh terrain and the weather condition of the region.
